Catching Z's: The Millennials Guide to Mindfulness

Aug 28, 2017

Many of you may know John Baker from the legendary John Baker game on July 29th, 2014.  In this game, he was the winning pitcher, and also scored the game winning run, all in a 16 inning game.  These days, John is still with the Cubs but is one of their Mental Skills Coordinators who helps the team with the mindfulness aspect of baseball.  As a long time Cubs fan, Nick was thrilled to have John on to talk about the intersection of Mindfulness and the Chicago Cubs (and Zach really enjoyed it too!). We talked to him about how he got into mindfulness, what his personal practice looks like, and what his new role as a mental skills coordinator for the Cubs is like.  He shared with us who on the Cubs has been the most receptive to the practice and the beauty of John Lackey's approach, along with how the Cubs used mindfulness in the heat of Game 7 of the World Series.  Of course, we couldn't have John on without also talking about the glory of the John Baker game.
